5 rules to follow as you find and bring your spark to life

A very inspiring speech from Simon Sinek.

Bring Your Spark

First rule:

Go after the things that you want

There are two ways to see the world.
Some people can see only the thing they want. And some see the thing that prevents them from wanting what they want.

He cites an incident where he could only see the free beagles offered during a racing event while his friend could only see the long queue standing to get those free beagles.
You can go after whatever you want. You just cannot deny anyone else to go after whatever they want.

Second rule:

Sometimes you are the problem

Understand and take accountability for your actions.

You can take credit for all the things you do right as long as you take responsibility for the things you do wrong.

Third rule:

Take care of each other

It is not about how tough you are, how smart or fast you are unless you get ready to help others.

Who you gonna ask help and when are you gonna accept help when offered? Learn that skill. Learn by practicing to help each other.

Here is the single most valuable thing to learn in your either life.
Accept help when is offered and ask for it when you know you can't do it.
When you ask for help you will find that lots of people who love you will rush in and take care of you. But that will only happen if you learn to take care of them first.

Fourth rule:

Listen and be the last to speak

When Nelson Mandella, who is considered as a great leader was asked how did he learn to be a great leader he responded about the two things he observed from his father's meetings who was a tribal chief.
  1. They all sit in circle.
  2. His father was always the last one to speak.

Listen and be the last to speak.

Fifth rule:

Remember to be humble.

As you gain fame, fortune, position in seniority people will treat you great. None of that is meant for you but the position you hold.
